Morphology
- Stem
- Erect, branched distally, hispid below, stipitate-glandular above.
- Leaves
- Cauline, opposite proximally, alternate distally; blades lanceolate, 1.2 to 3.6 inches long, .12 to .8 inch wide; margins entire, surfaces scabrous to strigose or puberulent.
- Inflorescence
- Heads in corymb-like arrays; involucres turbinate; phyllaries 8-14 in 2-3 series, distinct, oblanceolate to linear, .35 to .5 inch long.
- Flower
- Ray florets 3-5; corolla pink to pale purple, .6 to 1 inch, ligule .2 to .5 inch. Disk florets 15-35; corolla pink to pale purple, .4 to .6 inch, funnelform, lobes 5.
