Morphology
- Stem
- Erect, branched distally. Plants pubescent to hirsute.
- Leaves
- Alternate: petioles 2 to 6.3 inches; basal and proximal cauline pinnatifid, 2 to 6.3 inches long, 1.6 to 4.3 inches wide, segments 5-9, ovate-lanceolate to rhombic-ovate, margins coarsely dentate; distal cauline palmately- to subpinnately-lobed.
- Inflorescence
- Cymes, terminal, 3-17-flowered; peduncles 1.2 to 3.5 inches.
- Flower
- Pedicels .2 to .8 inch; sepals connate basally, calyx 1/6 to 1/3 inch, sinuses with conspicuous auricles, lobes triangular to lanceolate; corolla lavender to violet, bell-shaped to nearly wheel-shaped, .16 to .28 inch; stamens exserted 1/25 to 1/8 inch.

- Capsules, ovoid to spheric, 1/8 to 1/6 inch, pubescent to hispid; seeds brown or orangish brown, ellipsoid, 1/10 to 1/7 inch, honeycombed.
